Seems to have been AKAI branded. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Akai\">Akai<\/a>, the japanese company, had been defunct in 2002, while <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/InMusic_Brands\">inMusic<\/a> would only pick up the brand 7 years later. The picture here is from the <a href=\"https:\/\/magnavoxhistory.com\/timeline\/\">history of Magnavox<\/a> page. Which I found since I wondered about their defense division &#8220;Magnavox Electronic Systems&#8221;.  <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Min_Kao\">Min Kao<\/a> had worked there, when <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gary_Burrell\">Gary Burrell <\/a>recruited him to work for <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/King_Radio_(company)\">King radio<\/a>. In 1989 then both started Garmin which made them very rich. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Garmin\">Garmin<\/a> employs 13,000 people and seems to have <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2020\/07\/25\/garmin-outage-ransomware-sources\/\">malware problems <\/a>right now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a story here: People from defense tech, starting a big successful thing based on GPS that decades later gets kneecapped by some Russian hackers with generic ransomware.
